Courtney Barker's response to Knock Knock
This poem made me feel sad and think about my dad going away. It made me tear up. If I was in the boy's shoes I would feel sad and wonder why my dad never said anything to me. It made me wonder why the father didn't at least speak to his son and tell me how he felt.
Courtney, that is the job of the poet, to make the reader feel these emotions and bring their own personal experience to the poem, which you have done.
