No Moon Floods The Memory Of That Night

A short-lived, but very well-written poem nonetheless. I think it revolves around the concept that people must do what is right, whether or not people will agree with them, whether or not people will be alongside them in their endeavor. I like the imagery and hyperboles used throughout the poem setting the mood of a bad day for the writer. It is such a dark and gloomy night, that the moon cannot be seen through the storm. It is interesting to see psychology play a role in these characters. The narrator starts off by saying that a revolutionary is a doomed man, but one that should be honored and revered, which scares the woman off, not wanting any children of hers to be doomed, even though it is for a good cause. Of course, this causes a conflict with the narrator as well because he wants to fight for freedom, but loses his loved ones in the process. My favorite lines were at the end where he says:
"No moon floods the memory of that night
Only the rain I remember the cold rain
And praying that like the rain
Returns to the sky you would return to me again."

Even though he continues to pursue his goals, he still thinks of her and hopes that she will return "like the rain returns to the sky".

Never Let You Down

In my opinion, it was the most interesting poem out of these so far. I couldn't fully capture everything the poem was trying to express, but I think that what they're trying to show is that God lives in us all and that we don't necessarily have any free will, but that even though we don't have total control of what we do, we are being put to good use. My favorite lines are near the end:
"That's why my breath is felt by the deaf
And while my words are heard and confined to the ears of the blind
I too dream in color and in rhyme
So I guess I'm one of a kind in a full house
Cause whenever I open my heart, my soul or my mouth
A touch of God rains out"

I think the concept that God made us and that whatever we do or say has traces of God is pretty interesting and controversial.

I Hate Poetry

Overall, I liked the poem. I thought it was pretty interesting, having a lot of juxtaposition and basically saying things how they are. Saying that people "hate" what they love or they like what isn't good for them, such as how Alcoholics Anonymous hates liquor. My favorite lines were the last few where he says that the more he hears poetry, the more he hates it, and yet, he writes the more he hears it.

I adore the imagery and word choices of the first stanza. It's really beautiful. The second stanza makes me think this is during the revolutionary war, and the guy wants to fight for freedom and the lady is against it and leaves him. He obviously misses her, by how emotionally he remembers this night. I really enjoyed this poem.

I enjoy the irony of this poem and how it recognizes the contradictory of writing a poem about hating poetry. I love the comparisons used, particularly the one about the junky hating his fix he can't afford. Very enjoyable poem!

The best way I used to understand this poem is imagining that he is talking about a past relationship with a significant other. He uses a lot of comparison on how he feels emotionally about the subject.

I honestly don't think the writer hate poetry. Towards the end of the poem the writer says "And the more poetry I hear the more I hate it and the more I write it. Here I am". I think he means he loves poetry so much it has him writing more and more. He uses a lot of metaphors and I think that was very creative.

In the poem "I Hate Poetry" she talks about how much she hates it using simile to compare how much she hates it. It is a good poem because it is also ironic because at the end she says how much she hates it and in the end she's writing another poem.

I enjoyed the lyrics of this songs. i read it over and over again. I wanted to pretend I was the one rapping it. But I love the message that he tries to get across. He tries to get in touch with us young adults.

I like the way how it use metaphor. The way how he compare things that hate eachother. The way how he knows he hate it but he stills do it. Its like his mind says this but his words say this. Its amazing.

Knock Knock

The poem was very touching. Had a lot of imagery and repetition. It's a very sad situation to be used to that sort of affection or interaction with someone only to have it taken away so abruptly and for such a long time. My favorite lines were "Knock knock     Who's there?     We are". These lines refer to all the children who were able to mature and do great things without their parents and I think that's a great way of motivating people.
